You are playing the game on a machine, your sole objective is to get the best-paying hand.
You have no opponents to worry about like in table poker, just the machine and to win all you need is the correct strategy.
In deuces wild as in all video poker games You can keep or throw away as many cards as you want when playing the machine.
After selecting your card(s) that you want to discard, hit the deal button - you then get new cards to replace the ones you have discarded.
If the new hand contains a winning combination, you get your payout.

The Ranking for the Hands - Starting with best are:
1. Five of a Kind
2. Royal Flush
3. Straight Flush
4. Four of a Kind
5. Full House
6. Flush
7. Straight

Five of a Kind is only possible when using a Joker, or Wild Cards and is the highest paying hand.
Basic Deuces Wild Strategy
Four Deuces - Hold all five cards, you can't improve this hand.
Three Deuces - Hold a wild royal flush and five-of-a-kind. Otherwise, hold the deuces only.
Two Deuces - Hold any hand that's four-of-a-kind or better. Keep any four cards to a royal flush, or you should keep the two deuces.
One Deuce - Hold all paying hands, with the exception of four cards to a royal flush.
Keep four cards to a straight flush, three cards to a royal flush. Otherwise, keep the deuce.
No Deuce:
Hold all paying hands, except hold four cards to a royal flush, instead of a lesser paying hand.
Hold a four-card straight flush.
Hold a three-card to a royal flush.
Hold any one pair (keep two pair only if full house pays the same as four-of-a-kind).
Hold a four-card flush.
Hold a consecutive four-card straight.
Hold three cards to a straight flush.
Hold any two of 10, J, Q, or K, of the same the same suit. If you don't hold any of the above cards then draw five new cards.
When playing deuces wild video poker keep the following points in mind:
If you don't hold any of the available card combinations dump them. Your best play statistically is to re draw five new cards.
The above is sometimes difficult to do, but increases your chances of long term success in Deuces Wild video poker.
Play the machines with best odds of success
Play maximum coins per game, as the payout for five coins played is far greater than five times the payout for only one coin.
Play at machines that offer full-pay Deuces Wild pay schedules of 9/5 (9 coins for a straight flush and 5 for 4 of a kind with a one coin payout schedule)
This is very important to win longer term in deuces wild video poker, you must hit the Royal Flush.
You wont get the royal flush payout with maximum coins so you need to play them and the chances are highest of hitting the royal flush in a 9 / 6 game so this is the game you need to play.
If you don't follow the above two points your odds of success in video poker will be dramatically reduced.
