Spending the Holidays at Walt Disney World: A Very Mickey Christmas

Author: Leslie Clevenstine

The winter holidays are a wonderful time to visit Walt Disney World. And thats not a very well kept secret. In fact, the week between Christmas and New Years is the busiest week of the year at Disney World.

But you dont have to visit with the throngs of crowds to experience Disney Christmas magic. The rest of the month of December is one of the least busy times to visit, yet all of the holiday festivities are in full swing. Here are some of the highlights:

Candlelight Processional

A long-standing Disney tradtion, the Candlelight Processional, held at Epcot, is a moving telling of the Christmas story. A celebrity guest narrates the story, accompanied by a 50-piece orchestra and a guest mass choir. A Dinner Package is also availableyou can make reservations by calling 1-407-WDW-DINE.

The Candlelight Processional takes place in Epcot's American Gardens Theatre each evening at 5 p.m., 6:45 p.m. & 8:15pm and is included with Park admission.

Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party

Starting in late November, on selected nights at the Magic Kingdom, youre invited to a very special Christmas party. The park closes early to transform itself into a winter partyland. Special holiday shows, fireworks and holiday goodies await guests as they enjoy all of the Magic Kingdoms attractions. Youll even see snow fall on Main Street.

Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party requires separate admission. To order tickets call 1-407-DISNEY. Tickets sell out quickly, so order early!

Osborne Spectacle of Lights

Arkansas businessman and philanthropist, Jennings Osborne, became famous for the amazing light display he constructed at his home each year at Christmas. In 1995, the display found a new home at Disney-MGM Studios. Now park guests are dazzled by the millions of lights on display from late November through the first week of January (included with park admission).
