What if no one ever studied marketing and businesses were forced to simply guess what to do? Would anyone succeed? Some say yes and let me tell you why? A boy who wants to get a date in High School must market himself to the ladies. A child who wants to sucker their parents into something must market their needs to coax the mom or dad sometimes both into giving into their desires. A person looking for a job must market them selves in order to get that job. You see marketing is an innate tendency of the human species and we even see this in the animal kingdom, as one animal markets them selves to become the Alpha Male and scare off the others. We also see animals in defense often puffing up to deter their attacker. We see all animals exhibit mating rituals, so it is all about marketing then isnt it? So if no company used marketing techniques that might indeed be pretty silly as the receiver of goods or services is saying to them selves; Why should I buy this Product? And the company is saying how can I get this person to buy many of our products, tell all their friends and have hoards of people coming in for more on a constant basis?
